Pelican collaborated with Will Killingsworth from Dead Air Studios to design Resonance as part of its EP release. This pedal, intended to capture Pelican’s sound identity – from subtle reverb and ambient textures through to swirling self-oscillating sonicscapes – provides guitarists and experimenters alike a tool which captures Pelican’s expansive tones for guitar playback or experimentation purposes that emulates its atmosphere on recordings by Pelican.
Fans who pre-order the Ascending EP can access not only its pedal, but also limited edition colored vinyl records and merchandise designs–making this launch experience truly multisensory!
What This Means for Pelican’s Development
Ascending and the accompanying Resonance pedal showcase Pelican’s dedication to exploring new creative avenues while staying true to their established sound. Their instrumental legacy has always focused on texture, dynamic build-up, and emotional depth; and this project builds upon this tradition in unexpected ways by including rare tracks, high-profile collaborations, custom gear inspired by their music as they push the envelope of what post metal can be.
Listeners who’ve followed them from early releases through Flickering Resonance can expect Ascending to bring both depth and innovation as the band enters 2026 with purpose and playfulness.
